Why go to Tanzania and Kenya for a Safari?
When you think of the Tanzania, iconic Serengeti National Park stand out and rightfully so. Serengeti boasts one of the natural wonders of the world, the great wildebeest and zebra migration. A 1.5 million strong herd traversing between the areas of Serengeti and Masai Mara in Kenya. With the abundance of herds, the cats come to play. Then you have highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro. This towering mountain attracts climbers to tackle the Roof of Africa.

But these are just some of the attractions that Northern Tanzania offers. In Northern Tanzania, you have a World Heritage site Ngorongoro Crater, a 12 mile radius wildlife-rich caldera and Tarangire National Park where elephant sightings are guaranteed. The surrounding areas like Loliondo, east of Serengeti and Lake Natron are great for activities outside of wildlife. Rubondo Island on Lake Victoria is a great escape for the fishing.

You go to Southern Tanzania and the parks get remote and wild. The stunning Ruaha National Park which is slowly opening up. The remote Katavi National Park which is still raw. The large Selous Game Reserve is still untamed. Go west and meet the chimps in Mahale National Park. Want to dig deeper? We have Saadani National Park and the Usamabara Mountains. Oh and beaches. Zanzibar Island conjures up images of blue waters and white sands.

In Kenya, Masai Mara conjures up iconic images of being on a Safari. We also take you away from the masses in this small area. With its' many private concession areas like the revitalized Naibosho Conservancy, this enlarged area is a wonder to explore year round. Head north to Lake Nakuru, the breeding ground of the flamingos to Samburu National Park where you will find wildlife that you will not find in the parks in the south. Go to East to Amboseli where elephants roam under the shadows of Mt. Kilimanjaro and wild and expansive Tsavo National Park.

Tanzania and Kenya are huge. There is lots to explore on your Journey To Africa Luxury Safari.

How much does a Luxury Safari with Journey To Africa cost?
We have planned Safaris from $6,000 per person to $20,000 per person. The factors that determine price are number of people in the group, type of lodges and tented camps used, local flights used, park fees and more.

Ways we come to a price that works best.
1. Our clients come and tell us what their Safari budget is and we plan what lodges and tented camps would work best to meet those parameter. Our Safaris usually start around $800 per person per night.

2. The client come and tells us they prefer a certain style of lodges and tented camps and we base the Safari around that style.

What type of lodging do we recommend?
What do you gravitate towards on your past travels? Are looking for exclusive luxury or are you open to experiencing Tanzania and Kenya in our luxury mobile camps.?

When on your Journey To Africa Safari, we have a list of places-we-stay in our portfolio that we will recommend depending on your travel style and financial parameters.
We have stayed in most of these lodges and tented camps. We can imagine what you are going to experience when you step off your Safari vehicle. From the dining area to where your campfire will be set up in the evenings. What will your room look like. For ladies especially, the bathrooms situation -- flush or not. Where they get their supplies for the meals. It's the details.

But, beside the luxury factor, they also have to have the 3Cs in their repertoire - Conservation, Community and Carbon offsetting. They have to have a soul.

A. Conservation.
Camps that are involved in not only providing quality service but are invested in conservation. We are talking conservation of elephants, rhinos, birds, forests and much more. Some are heavily involved, some slightly and some indirectly.  Part of your Safari money goes to helping. We are in the know. If you want more details, feel free to ask us.

B. Community.
The lodges and tented camps that we encourage you to overnight tend to support and enrich the surrounding community. Wether is be via providing support for education or bringing in water pipes or teaching sustainable farming, our preferred lodges are invested in their communities.

C. Carbon off-setting.
Most of the camps and lodges that we use are members of a local organization called Carbon Tanzania run by two friends of ours, Jo Anderson and Marc Baker. They have worked hard to encourage local communities to embrace the forests and even getting them to expand the forests. Not an easy feat when charcoal is one of the main source of energy.
We can arrange a meeting with one of these two English blokes at one of our favorite local Arusha coffee shops.

On your Journey To Africa Safari, we take care of you from arrival to drop-off into your East African International Airport.
You are on Safari. Time to relax.

Importance of getting Travel Insurance.
There is nothing worse then having to cancel your Safari and not get your money back.

Reason our clients have been glad they had insurance:
- Ruptured appendix, the day before you fly out to Tanzania.
- Breaking a leg in Amsterdam, when you are supposed to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
- Bags not arriving on time. Client had to do some shopping in Arusha.

Get Travel Insurance. Peace of mind.
We offer via Travel Guard, an AIG company.
