The breathtaking highlands, Volcanoes National Park.

Overview.

Rwanda is often overshadowed by its other East African counterparts [Kenya and Tanzania], but this small country has so much to offer to both first time Safari goers and more experienced travellers and safari enthusiasts. Incredible eco-systems, mountain regions, wetlands, friendly locals and of course, the famous Mountain Gorillas are just a few reasons to visit this little slice of Safari heaven. For many years, the country was tainted and scarred by the awful events of 1994 known as the Rwandan Genocide but has since rebuilt itself and become one of the safest countries in Africa. Stunning undulating mountain highlands, volcanos and incredible wildlife including the endangered Mountain Gorilla are just the tip of what Uganda has to offer.

Wildlife in Rwanda.

Rwanda’s main attraction is undoubtably Virunga national park’s population of rare and endangered Mountain Gorilla. Sightings of these fascinating cousins of ours is possibly one of the most exciting and rare game sightings the world has to offer. Often safaris focus solely on this region and spend only a few nights in Virunga. However, Rwanda is much more than just its Gorillas. From Nyungwe National Park’s birdlife and Chimpanzees to Akagera National Parks wetlands and savannah that are home to the big 5, to Lake Kivu’s trendy scenic beach scene.

Camps and lodges

The low visitor numbers give Rwanda an exclusive, “off the beaten track” feel to safari goers. The luxury accommodation here from the classic elegant tented camps to gorgeous mountain lodges in the highlands is breathtaking. I have handpicked lodges and camps that I know you will love and will personalise each safari to you, your taste and your budget.
