Uganda
Overview.
Uganda’s dense enchanting forests, pristine lakes, vast savannah plains, and rich waterways are often cast aside for more popular safari destinations like the Serengeti and Kruger, but this is part of Uganda’s charm. It is still a well kept gem with lower visitor numbers that will make your Safari undisturbed by others. From boat rides on the Nile River in Merchiston Falls National Park to Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forrest, your Ugandan Safari experience will be like no other.
WILDlife in Uganda.
Uganda is inhabited by all the big game of its more famous neighbours including the members of the big 5. You can expect tree climbing lions, leopard, hippo, enormous Nile crocodile and much more. However, Uganda’s main attraction in terms of wildlife is their mountain Gorilla population that is arguably the best in the world [this is a hot debate between Uganda and Rwanda]. Chimpanzee trekking is also a must as Uganda holds some of the largest populations in Africa in many of their unspoilt forests. Birdlife here is also unbeatable with 10% of the worlds birdlife located in this small country. Essentially, Uganda will give you all the wildlife you would see in more quintessential Safari destinations and more.
Lodges and camps.
As always, I will choose camps and lodges that I know you will love and will pick them according to your personalised safari budget and taste. Whether its mountain safari lodges in the highlands or classic luxury tented camps in the savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will feel luxuriously calm and content in your little slice of Africa’s best kept secret.
